Baristacrat Coffee Centre is a new concept for the Gold Coast, Australia, a combination of Coffee Shop, Outdoor Cafe, Barista Training School, Administration Office, Warehouse Storage and Distribution Centre for Bellaroma Coffee Brand. The Clients, Maurizio and Natalie Roselli, requested an integrated Design Solution that allowed for all the parts of the business to co-exist simultaneously. The Coffee Centre is located in an existing Commercial Multi-Unit Development and needed to be distinctive in its branding and ambience. The development included new Interior Fitout, Colours, Display Cabinets, Furniture and Signage.
Design Engine Architects have created a practical, robust and comfortable environment that encourages the creative flair and passion of the Clients, Patrons and Students. The polished concrete floors, painted concrete block, stained timber plywood panels with stretched Hessian Coffee sacks, the celebrated industrial aesthetic of the Coffee machines and grinders, the large-scale "Coffee Shot" photo, the Australian Eucalyptus stained and poyurethaned bench tops create an environment that celebrates Coffee and the pursuit of the creation of the "Perfect Baristacrat Espresso". The project was designed and detailed in New Zealand, constructed in Australia. Client and Architect communication was by email, phone and skype. The Architects first site visit was for the "Grand Opening" of Baristacrat Coffee Centre. The Roselli Team and Design Engine plan to create more of these Coffee Centres on the Sunshine Coast with Coolum and Noosa being identified.
The project was successfully completed under budget and on time
for an August 2007 opening.
In 2006 we purchased an industrial unit with the intention of converting it into a Barista Training Centre, incorporating a showroom, office and warehouse area. The unit was very untidy. In fact it was difficult to see the potential. Fortunately we invited Mark to oversee our project and he was able to turn our dream into a reality.
We are in the hospitality industry, our focus being wholesale coffee supply and Barista training. We needed a base to not only house our stock and administer the business, but we also needed a comfortable, practical space to run training classes as well as do demonstrations and coffee tastings. Being situated in a light industrial area, we are surrounded by various types of businesses from mechanics, to wholesalers and courier companies - not exactly up market. Our brief to Mark was to create a classy, functional space, almost an oasis, in the midst of industry. Since the completion of the project, we have received many positive comments from people who have walked into our building and found themselves in a smart, modern, fully equipped showroom and training centre - not at all what they expected to find.
Our budget was conservative, and Mark was able to very cleverly design our interior and exterior whilst respecting our budget constraints. He even took into consideration the potential for a small cafe setup in the future and designed a functional cafe serving area and outdoor cafe seating area. If we could think of one word to describe Mark in relation to his craft, it would be passionate. Mark's passion for his work is enviable. He loves what he does and as a result he totally immerses himself in his project and really takes it on as his own. He is down to earth and easy to communicate with, which made us feel very comfortable when we had questions to ask or changes to make. Mark's ability to manage the entire project took an enormous amount of pressure off us and we were spared a huge amount of stress as a result. We have every confidence in his ability, his work speaks for itself, and we have no hesitation in recommending him for future projects to our associates. Yours faithfully
